The Transporter (2002)
We had low expectations for this movie, like it might be another XXX. (That is the kind of movie that I would not ordinarily watch voluntarily, but my brother-in-law made me. He said it was the worst movie ever and so we must see it. I think there are probably worse movies, but I haven't been able to name any yet.) The Transporter turned out to be entertaining and had great Jackie Chan-style fight scenes. It's also generally a good thing when the French inspector is played by an actual French person, from France.
I'm with you. I really liked the French inspector. Plus, it can't possibly be the worst movie ever. That title has to go to The Transporter 2.
Luc Besson's movies are always hit and miss. The Professional is one of my favorites.
I haven't seen The Fifth Element for a long, long time, and when I saw it first, it was the second movie at a drive-in. I think as a result of the viewing conditions, it just seemed kind of weird, but I definitely want to see it again. Sometimes futuristic stuff is so good (and sometimes so bad).
The Professional is brilliant (saw it edited for TV). Partly because of Jean Reno, who is an amazing actor. The relationship between Léon and the girl is so realistic and moving. The action's great, too, but I thought the relationship stuff was more important. I love that movie.
