Will Smith is really a good actor, and he's great in this. I had some pretty disturbing and vivid dreams after watching it, though. I really need to read the book someday. There are two other movie versions: The Last Man on Earth (1964) with Vincent Price and Omega Man (1971) with Charlton Heston. I've seen Omega Man, and I think it was pretty corny, but I can't remember it that well. Anyway, I Am Legend is very far from corny. It's suspenseful and scary.

Oh yes, I, Robot is definitely worth a rental. As long as you accept up front it's not at all about the Asimov book / series, and just enjoy it for what it is: a very good, very entertaining movie.

First, I never would have guessed that I, Robot was a good movie. And I'm glad to know that you thought the book was bad, Greg. Much less pressure to read it.

Lori: ever since Zed sat shaking and crying silently in front of The Wizard of Oz when he was about three, I've been kind of careful about what the kids see. Mira has been known to dramatically gasp and point out monsters in the corner, but I think she's faking. Clever girl.

I also had some pretty vivid dreams after watching this movie. Aaron watched "Ghost Busters" with the kids the other night and Taylor has had monsters in her room ever since. They seem to appear around 2 a.m. and scare her all the way into our bed.

The book is pretty bad, although it starts out okay. While the movie ending had some major plot holes, for once I preferred the liberty they took in adapting the book. I though the movie was good but not great overall. Far, far better than the book, but not as good as some other Will Smith movies (such as "I, Robot")
