Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

As far as chick flicks go, Sweet Home Alabama is not bad. This is the second time I've seen it, though, and I don't think it would stand up to any more viewings. So I guess it's not a classic chick flick.

    Oh man Erin, Sweet Home Alabama is one of my favorite shows. I mean how could it not be - Matthew McConahey(s/p) duh? I love the fact that you never really forget your first true love no matter how hard you try sometimes! I am just excited I got to post on your blog about something I actually know about. hahhaaa!

    Jessica! Matthew McConaughey isn't in Sweet Home Alabama! Patrick Dempsey is the guy she doesn't choose, and I don't know who the other guy is. Wait, I'll look it up.... It's somebody named Josh Lucas, who is much more attractive than Matthew McConaughey, in my opinion. Sorry, but I don't reall like him that much. I mentioned that once at book club and was practically booed out of the room. Anyway, I hope we can still be friends!

    Oh my heck Erin, I feel soo incredibly dumb!! You are soo right. I have had Matthew Mcconaughey in my head becuase I want to see his and Kate Hudson's new show Fools Gold. N E ways, I still totally love Sweet Home Alabama! I think Josh Lucas is good looking and I like Reese Witherspoon too. We can still be friends. Oh did you check Lillian out on my blog?

    I'm glad we can still be friends, even though I'm not a big fan of Matthew McNot-a-Hotty (do you remember when Mike Sewell said that at church?). I do like some of his movies, though. I liked Failure to Launch and I thought How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was hilarious. Kate Hudson was great in that. I really like Reese Witherspoon, too. I think she's a great actress. She was great in Legally Blonde and Walk the Line. Yep, I saw Lillian on your blog! That was fun. I need to show her now.

We took a train from Rome to Ancona, Italy, where we had a one-day stop. Ancona is about ¾ of the way up the east coast, on the Adriatic Sea. The next evening we planned to take an overnight ferry to Split, Croatia, so this seemed like a simple transfer place, but Ancona is a really neat city itself! At night I wandered around and ended up hiking to a functioning lighthouse. The stone sign is at 104 meters above sea level, about 341 feet. Malta Holy Week pageant Ħtija Tiegħu?

In Malta on Palm Sunday I went to a Holy Week pageant called “Ħtija Tiegħu?” which means something like “His guilt?” It was held in Marsa, a few kilometers south of Sliema where we were staying. The pageant has been held since 1970 and is normally done outside on the street, but rain was forecast for the day and by evening it was coming down pretty steadily, so they moved the pageant indoors to the church and started two hours late so they had time to adapt to a fully indoor setting. It's a newish Catholic church, bright and colorful, and a bit in the suburbs and there were lots of families there. While we were waiting during the delay, a man who spoke English, named Albert, introduced himself to me. He has been involved in the pageant for 30 years and is currently the treasurer and one of the participants, no longer Judas as he was for many years and got tired of portraying. 😂 In a building across the street they had a display of some neat handmade Christian artwor...

The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum

This is not the sort of book I normally pick up at the library. But I liked the movie so... First of all, it's a lot different from the movie. And longer. It sort of went on and on, repeating a lot of phrases which got sort of annoying. Okay, I know the guy was an amnesiac, and he had to repeat phrases to himself to try to stir his memories or whatever, but if I had to read " Cain is for Charlie, Delta is for Cain. Get Carlos. Kill Carlos.. " again, well....I would have skipped it like I did that last few times it was repeated. The plot was really long and really confusing (I missed a lot). And THEN, after all the plot twists, all the chasing, fighting, running, excitement, the bad guy gets away!! Setting up for more books, I'm sure (which there are. More books, that is). The author was good at describing fight scenes, but my imagination has a hard time picturing it. Movies are much more intense. Now I have to watch the movie again. It was so different and I wo...
