Wheat Thins Too Salty!

I don't know why, but some time last year, Wheat Thins started coming with tons of extra salt on them. The first time I encountered it, I thought it was just a bad box. But it's been consistent every time since then, across various varieties (except the low-salt kind).

Nabisco, stop it! It's way too much salt! You're killing us.

You took out the trans fats a few years ago, which was fine. The crackers got harder then, but that's a minor deal.

But seriously, cut back on the salt!

    Perhaps they are encouraging you to buy their low-sodium variant? :) Stoned Wheat Thins by Red Oval Farms are my preference now anyway, have not had regular WT in a long time.

    Funny, I thought it was just the reduced fat ones, but it's been so long since I had any other variety I guess I wouldn't know. I totally agree, though.

We missed out on the TV series Northern Exposure when it first aired, but Erin got into reruns of it in the late 1990s, and we’ve watched most of it on DVD since. Phin has lately started watching it from the beginning too, during his rare allotted blocks of TV time. During our recent drive up to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada , we took the opportunity to make a little side trip to Roslyn, Washington, which was the actual location of the fictional Cicely, Alaska portrayed in Northern Exposure. It’s a very small town, and we were there late enough in the day that most businesses were closed, but it was fun to see it in person at last.

Preston England Mormon Temple

Erin, Lillian, and I went to the Preston England Temple of our church, the Latter-day Saint (LDS) or Mormon church. It is actually in nearby Chorley , in Lancashire, northwest England. The grounds are lovely and have a uniquely English garden feel among temples I've seen: Here is the temple exterior itself. I later found out it's the largest temple in Europe, measuring by inside floor space. Even the car park is fancy: Lillian explored the grounds and read a book while Erin and I attended temple services inside. On the walk back through town to the train station I saw this neat little house: Our route there was to take a bus from Pocklington to York, a train from York to Manchester Picadilly, and from there to Chorley. We walked around Manchester a bit and had a quick dinner there on the way back. It's a much more modern city than what we've grown accustomed to in Yorkshire. It was a nice day trip.
